Cedar Term 1

The children love exploring the outdoor area especially in Forest School. We are encouraging children to tidy up when they have finished playing to develop responsibility and respect.

This term we have focussed on The Blue Balloon and Kipper’s Birthday by Mick Inkpen. We made our own blue balloons, party invitations and birthday cards during group learning. We have enjoyed playing birthday parties in the role play area and wearing party hats.

We have started our daily Maths time where we follow a Mastery approach.  We have been counting objects to 5, practising forming numbers and finding numbers in our environment. This week we have started to recognise and name 2D shapes. We have spotted lots of shapes in our classroom and outdoor area.

We enjoy joining in with jolly phonics rhymes in Phonics. So far we have learnt the sounds and actions for s,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g,o,c,k,ck,e,u,r and the tricky words I, go, to, no.

This week we went for an autumn walk; we found lots of brown, red and orange leaves and spotted the trees they had fallen from. We collected some leaves and made our own autumn pictures.
