We started the term with a focus in PSHCE, and reminding ourselves of the school values and getting better at learning with others. This is something we will continue with next term as it is the focus of our learning skills.
Our Mysterious Materials topic has given everyone the opportunity to develop their science skills, especially observation and investigating as we learnt about the properties of materials and how to classify them. We especially enjoyed helping Mr Spencer identify which was the best type of carrier bag based on strength and durability.
In English we have been reading The Iron Man and studying how Ted Hughes, the author, has used language. We have read and written non-chronological reports linked to our topic learning, and have learnt about different types of sentences - and enjoyed using FANBOYS and I SAW A WABUB!
The focus of our maths learning has been place value and then addition and subtraction. We realised how important those number bonds we learnt in Key Stage 1 are to solving more complex calculations.
We are all looking forward to term 2 – Battles and Castles which has a history focus. And of course Christmas!
