Oak Class - Term 5 - Our Place

We have completed an Environmental Quality Analysis to evaluate the school grounds.  Together, the class did a shared writing exercise to compile a report to demonstrate their findings.  A copy was sent to Mrs Crittenden and Mr Harding (our site manager) to let them know too.  The class had a wonderful time building dens in our Forest School on site.

As part of their English learning this term Oak Class are reading the novel ‘Tom’s Midnight Garden’ by Philipa Pearce- which we all thoroughly enjoying.  We spent a lot of time looking at descriptive language and using precise language to describe a setting.  The children have also focused on writing short dramatic sentences to create effect.  We then planned and wrote our own stories based on ‘Tom’s Midnight Garden’.

In Maths we have been focusing on fractions, decimals and percentages and how the three maths strands link together.  We will be consolidating our knowledge of this at the beginning of Term 6. Here is a link to a website to learn more!

The class have said a fond farewell to Mrs Hudson and wish her every happiness with her new bundle of joy.  Mrs Vincett, Mrs Hill and Mrs Court are looking forward to learning with the class.
