Our Governors play a large role in the strategic direction of our school.

Meet the Governors

Tim Barker
Chair of Governors
Parent Governor since 2006
Co-Opted Governor since 2015

Tim has had 2 children go through our school. He runs his own Party Bus business and also works in IT. His wife is an HLTA in the school.
As chair of Governors, Tim meets with the Headteacher on a regular basis. He sits on the Finance Group and reports on the Leadership & Management and Teaching & Learning elements of School Improvement.

Philip Noakes
Local Authority Governor since 2008

Philip has a background in teaching and school improvement. His areas of interest are pupil progress, achievement and ICT. He is the company director of EDICT Consultancy Ltd
He reports on the Achievement and Leadership and Management elements of School Improvement.

David Welch
Health and Safety Governor
Co-opted Governor since 2011

David has a long history working in schools on the buildings side, advising both schools and local authorities. He has 4 grown up children and lives in Maidstone.
Having responsibility for Health and Safety, means David carries out 3 site checks a year with the Site Manager and reports to Governors. He also sits on the Finance Group and reports on the Achievement element of the SIAP.

Tracey Kingsnorth
Humanities and Learning Environment Leader
Staff Governor since 2015

Tracey has taught at West Borough since 2009 in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. She is a member of the Extended Leadership Team as an Aspire Key Lead. She also leads the School Learning Council and is currently setting up a Parent Council.

Ken Baker
Co-opted Governor since 2014

Ken works across several Maidstone Schools, giving independent ICT Technician support. His company is Bode Communications. He has a keen interest in the teaching of Computing. Ken reports on the Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment.

Ashley Crittenden
Headteacher
Staff Governor since 2006

As Headteacher, Ashley is automatically a member of the Governing Body. She is supported by another Staff Governor. Ashley sits on the Finance Group.

Ben Pattenden
Safeguarding Governor
Co-opted Governor since 2008

Ben has worked closely with local schools for many years through his work with Premier Sport, where he is Area Coordinator.
Ben has responsibility for Safeguarding. He reports on Pupil Premium, Sport Premium and Behaviour and Safety, as well as supporting with SEN.

Judith Westrup
SEN Governor
Parent Governor since 2011

Judith currently has 2 children in the school. She is a Speech and Language Therapist and works in schools.
Judith reports on the Behaviour Safety elements of the SIAP, with a particular focus on SEN.

Stephanie Thurkle
Vice Chair of Governors
Co-opted Governor since 2015

Stephanie is a Clerk to the Governors in several other school locally. As Vice Chair, Stephanie supports the Chair and also meets regularly with the Headteacher. She reports on the Teaching and Learning and Leadership and Management elements of School Improvement.
